JDF to get high-tech communication equipment

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is to receive advanced stealth communications equipment as well as a language laboratory from the British Government.
The equipment consist of Personal Role Radios (PRR), which are expected to significantly enhance the combat effectiveness of the JDF.
It will provide effective and clear communication to soldiers doing front line duties.
According to Civil/Military Co-operation Officer at the JDF, Captain Basil Jarrett, operations will be much slicker and more effectively applied.
Captain Jarrett says the language lab will improve skills in French and Spanish in the JDF, which will enhance its ability to engage and operate in the Caribbean.
Two years ago, JDF soldiers were first responders on the ground in Haiti, following a massive earthquake that devastated the country.
However, when military personnel arrived, they found that language was a major hurdle in executing their duties smoothly.
British High Commissioner to Jamaica, Howard Drake, is expected to make the presentation to National Security Minister Peter Bunting and Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Antony Anderson Tuesday.
