US chamber of commerce is big Rep donor?
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The conservative business group spent more than $32.3 million mainly to oppose Democrats. It has spent more than $4.4 million against Tim Kaine's Democratic Senate bid in Virginia and more than $4.3 million to unseat Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio. Ads it ran against Kaine criticized his support for President Barack Obama's health care law, calling it a job killer. It's running similar critical ads against other candidates who voted for the health care plan approved by Congress. It has also spent more than $3.3 million to challenge other Obama policies. The group itself claims it represents more than three million businesses. It advocates for less regulation on business, better graduation rates, business education in schools, better infrastructure and other issues. In July, the chamber wrote senators urging them to defeat the "Bring Jobs Home Act," which would have given companies that brought jobs back to the United States from overseas a 20% tax break on costs. Democrats pushed for the bill, but it was not brought up for debate.
