GOP remain in blinkers and have signalled that they intend to follow the same blueprint of 'no to the President initiatives'.
If we start from the premise that just as in JA a high percent (possible 47+%?) are just party hacks...and only <6% is open to persuation on the issues (the so-called independents?)...then the election presented a rejection of the GOP platform and agreement of/on the Dems.

btw - I do not think Social Security should be touched save increase in retirement age and increased SS contributions...and that Medicare and Medicaid should remain as per ObamaCare type waste reductions.
More efficient use of government resources must be where savings are generated. Tax increases as per proposed by the Dems is the way to go. That 'Balanced Approach' gets my vote...as the 'investments' proposed by the POTUS and the Dems cannot be not done.
Aside: What total %age voting took place in the States hit be "Sandy"? ...and what %age voting took place in Dems leading counties in States where the GOP reduced early voting hours? What conclusions could be drawn about impact on total %age votes President Obama received and %age margin of his win?
