Phillips - ‘Smooth transition of economic management team’
Finance Minister Dr. Peter Phillips is assuring the country that there will be a smooth transition in the wake of the impending departure of two key members of his economic management team.
RJR News first reported Thursday that Financial Secretary Dr. Wesley Hughes and Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, Dr. Gladstone Hutchinson are to demit office.
Dr. Hutchinson is leaving late January.
In an interview with our the RJR News Centre the Finance Minister said steps are being taken for a seamless hand over.
However, he said both men have agreed to be involved in the completion of the IMF negotiations and beyond
Dr. Hutchinson is scheduled to return to his post as an Associate Professor at Lafayette University in the United States, from which he was seconded in July 2010.
Dr. Hughes confirmed to RJR News that his contract expired at the end of September but was extended to facilitate the completion of the IMF negotiations.
Dr. Hughes did not say when he will demit office.
