Saw it last night. Why didn't the Obama campaign put these achievements out there? There were people who voted for Obama in the previous election that said they were not pleased with what has happened so far. How many of them knew about all that Rachel mentioned last night?
I see Gillbrand of NY running some ads and all now I have no idea who she is running against. I am yet to see any of her ads that mentioned her opponent. Yes, Obama couldn't do that, but he should have campaigned more on his record.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
I do remember that Obama had a whirlwind 6 months in office. It was like he was always doing things that made a difference. One wondered when he slept!
So, this talk about him not doing anything in office...yes, you wonder why all of this was not a part of his campaign?!?!
Because most of the achievements in that video mean little or nothing to the majority of low information voters who decide elections. The struggling economy was always the main issue and was also Romney's supposed strength as a business guru and fixit guy, so they decided to follow the successful Karl Rove strategy and focus on going after his strength . Hence the Bain Capital ads, the tax returns, etc, etc.
Negative campaigning is FAR more effective than positive campaigning even though people say they don't like it. When you look at the breakdown of positive to negative ads from both sides they are both overwhelmingly negative and for good reason. It works. If one candidate goes negative and the other does not, the side that doesn't will almost surely lose in a competitive race.
