Consumer and Business Services Minister Margarett Best emerges from a two-hour cabinet meeting. As perhaps the most powerful Jamaican-born politician in the province, Best is a key Liberal ambassador to the hundreds of thousands of West Indian voters in the province.
“Jamaica and my roots in Jamaica really provided the foundation for the person that I am today,” she says.
But Best is more than just an emissary from Queen’s Park to a politically important cultural community. She’s currently working on a revamped Condominium Act using an innovative public consultation process devised by Ottawa political scientist Don Lenihan.
