  • Folconer you are wrong. Vaz is right.

Who is this idiot Minister Falconer kidding?.

Based on the reports that I have read, Portland seems to have been hardest hit by Sandy. A combination of factors which might include poor infrastructure, basic topography and flora(which incidentally account for the beauty of the parish, at least in part), sustaining a direct hit by the storm, and other factors that might even been due to the people of the parish themselves have resulted in the citizens of the most neglected parish in Jamaica undergoing a disproportionate degree of suffering when compared to rest of the island.

MP Vaz, a person known for being more wrong than he is right, suggested that the parish be declaired a dissaster zone. I assume that would help to get the aid and attention that the poor people of that parish deserve, and, in fact, need. Afteral, the people of that parish pay taxes, and deserves to be treated with a modicum of compassion. Of course the reply by this Falconer idiot, is that they have to be careful about declaring the parish as a dissaster zone, as that might cause a the country to be seen in a negative light. What a dumn $#!+ head. Take care of your people, then worry about what potential tourists, investors etc think, you Falcon!.

Haven't heard the entire thing, but I agree with you. She's talking nonsense!

Would she want to inconvenience the tourists and have them come to the disaster that is Portland??!

And she needs to stop acting like tourists are idiots.

Falconer's big head is too tough. The parish of Portland is a total mess - from East to West; everyone I have spoken to confirms that.

It seems so. As if yesterday's statement wasn't bad enough, she made another idiotic statement about JPS performance postSandy, which makes little sense coming from a government minister.

MI tell unnu long time the man is an advocate for Portland. The man do him work as a MP not just for JLP. JLP and PNP in West or East Portland can tell you. A few more Mps and advocate like Vaz we need.

This is the way him address Portland people.

            The JPS messed up.

The night of the hurricane, a spokesman of the JPS was saying they were resting their crews for the night so they can start bright and early at 6 AM on Thursday. Well, what were they doing most of Wednesday when the storm came thru? Many of them were not in harm's way and should have been resting so they could hit the roads that night as the storm went on its way to Cuba. Can you say "shift system", JPS?

            They screwed it!

Based on the Falcon's ramblings, they should not expect any help too soon, as declaring that area as a dissaster zone might bring a negative image for MoBay, Ochi, Negril, and the Falmouth pier. What a damn idiot.

What about the media persons at the press briefing?. They don't ask questions?. What would it take for one of the journalists in attendance to say to her, "Madam Minister, what if Mobay, Negril, Ochi, and the Falmouth pier were damaged to the extent that Portland was, would you have said don't declare them dissaster areas because that would cast a negative image of Portland, St. Mary and St. Thomas?". Empty suits everwhere.
