Bob Marley has topped a poll to find out which musician's work most helps people to learn the English language.
A new study by Kaplan International Colleges - via Music-News - has found that the music and lyrics of the late reggae artist are the most useful when it comes to learning English, above the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
Kaplan asked hundreds of former and current students if listening to music in the English language assisted them in their studies. 80% replied that it did, with 14% of those people highlighting the work of Marley as being particularly helpful.
Bob Marley was followed by Michael Jackson at 11% and Madonna at 8%.
In light of the findings, Marley's daughter Cedella Marley said: "Our father's legendary music has touched and moved so many people. It's exciting to find out that his story-telling lyrics can enhance students' understanding of the English language."
Earlier this year, a biological species in the Caribbean was named after Bob Marley. Gnathia marleyi is a small parasitic crustacean blood feeder that infests fish in coral reefs. It was named after the late reggae legend by Paul Sikkel, a marine biologist at Arkansas State University.
He said: "I named this species, which is truly a natural wonder, after Marley because of my respect and admiration for Marley's music. Plus, this species is as uniquely Caribbean as Marley."
Marley's former band The Wailers supported The Stone Roses over the summer at their Heaton Park shows, performing a series of his famous hits including 'No Woman, No Cry' and 'Three Little Birds'.
