  • Fired Over 17 Year Old Lingerie Photos

High school guidance counselor fired over racy lingerie photos that she posted 17 YEARS ago

A high school guidance counselor's past as a racy lingerie model has come back to haunt her after she was fired over photos that were taken 17 years ago.

Tiffany Webb, 37, was a respected educator in New York City public schools for 12 years before she lost her job last December.
A principal at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers in Manhattan recommended she be fired after a student showed her photos of Ms Webb that he had found online.

Imagine in another 20 years when this Facebook generation is applying for high profile jobs or running for office. Facebook archives will be golden for anyone who wants to bring them down! Photos, Comments, Likes, Friends and Friends of friends...must can find some dirt somewhere.

I agree that is quite ridiculous.

        Maybe this "ridiculousness" is understandable?

To some extent I see the school administrators’ position. We probably have to look at this action in the context of the nature of this particular field/job.

Guidance counseling is not like regular teaching in that the needs often attended to and the advice given can impact highly sensitive aspects of the lives of children and teens. A typical guidance counselor in a big school, for example, deals with matters of a sexual nature on a regular basis, matters which some teachers may never confront in their entire career. So, being in such a sensitive position with such a racy past may not be the ideal mix.

On the other hand, Ms. Webb took those photos when she was just 20 years old! Today she is 37 years old and would, most likely have matured tremendously as far as her thoughts and actions are. Maybe the school’s administrators should have taken a closer look at her work and the results of this over the years that she has been a guidance counselor at the school. If there is nothing out of the ordinary as far as negativity is concerned, then the matter should have been left alone.

Because of the nature of her job, I will not use the term “ridiculous,” but I cannot help thinking that an improper action taken 17 years ago, when the lady was just out of her teens, does not necessarily mean she still has that mindset and attitude. Maybe poor judgment was exercised by the school in this matter.

No it was a cruel decision to fire someone who was close to being eligible for tenure. This occurred over 17 years ago and she is an ideal person to counsel kids that you can achieve success regardless of "mistakes" that occurred as a youth. The school knew her background, and hired her based on that, and they are overreacting based on complaints from another educator.
