Seems like Jazz ,ska ,hornsman reggae & dub is now owned by white preppie sophisticated kids and a mature crowd.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

X-MAN...let me put it this way; Marcus Garvey must be turning is his place of rest.

Though immitation is the best form of flattery, what you posted is showing is how far behind "we" are placing ourselves.

We do well at threathening and cursing each other.

Don't you see the Chinese are teaching us how to cultivate sugarcane!!

I miss BK for many reasons--'specially the entertainment.

    Good post!!

I wonder if vbyz will have his tunes covered in social clubs/restaurants in 40 - 50 years ? judging by the history of earlier DJs and Rap artist I doubt not.

BTW we not helping ourselves with the Air Jamaica Blues B.S.If we cater to classic Jazz artist on our soil ,50 years after SKA the message is ..................

Big question to you and Historian, especially the latter, why are you not involved at the highest level in the preservation of Jamaica musical genres?

X, I am listening to the Brooklyn Attractors, I seem to think that Jamaica does not have enough musicians as back in the 60's, correct me here.

you may have more. Just not as good trained and don't get the exposure.

If you count the amount of hotel bands, dead yard bands, church bands and the studio musicians who are laid off you will find there is a lot but not like back then or the 80s when there were stage shows and band was big thing and studios were using musicians, so they got exposed.

Band like Dubtronic getting a good following overseas and you have a few others but unlike Third World they have not broken the barrier.

thats our problem (exposure) why do we believe it starts over- seas? if we can spend our resources for Jazz -Blues festival to expose them why not our own and it would cost a fraction of what they spend to organise a decent show.

No doubt we have the musicians , how skilled i dont know and that is to say again the exposure to develop isnt there.

I cant forget the lady on the JTB telling me there isnt a market for it...aaah saaaah.Irony they find a market for JAZZ & BLUESS IN JA but not SKA, Horns Reggae ? .

You can't only blame the JTB woman, what are our musicians and people who make money out of the business doing?

Look Toney Rebel start a thing and force them and the JTB to take take notice. Capleton Start a thing in St.Mary and force them to take notice, so too Shaggy with his yearly concert.

Our music industry too divided and dog eat dog. Our musicians need to come as a unit and support this cause. You have so many musicians and entertainers and producers who could make these things happen but the older ones don't encourage the youngsters and the youngsters cuss the oldsters. It is easier to head to Europe and Cali where all they have to do is appear and perform.

True but I dont absolve them , you know what I notice with these caucasian musicians , dress code 1st formal or semi formal, suit & tie ,then the product musicians....a progressive mind would think the thousands it cost to put on one of these B.S(Blues & Jazz ) shows it would cost a drop in the bucket to get some alpha youths buy some suits and throw them on stage and give them a room ,food and donation to school for books etc.I wouldnt be surprised if it was shopped already and the response was probably who know alpha or who want to be assocaited with east kgn?

Blame for all to go around .
