Michael Dawson, Co-author of Vybz Kartel’s book 'The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto' plans to write the Ministry of Education declaring that the book should be a textbook and accessible in all schools.

Dawson tells Music News that schools and individuals rejecting the book are doing their children a disservice.

Music News understands that all major bookstores have embrace Vybz Kartel’s book with a few uptown and Christian themed bookstores along with some Universities rejecting ‘The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto'. Nonetheless, Michael Dawson claims the book is doing well.

That was Michael Dawson, Co-author of Vybz Kartel’s book 'The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto'.

The book was officially launched on July 7. Vybz Kartel who is currently behind bars awaiting trial on two separate murder charges was unable to attend the launch.

Wonderful and commendable move by these people! Actions such as this make believe that there is still hope!

The audacity of this man Dawson to even think of suggesting that this book be made a textbook in all schools boggles my mind! And no, I have not read the book, but enough is enough as far as communication from certain quarters is concerned! Jamaica is at war now with itself, and serious people need to start taking a stance in whatever useful way they can.

Politicians, 'Entertainers' and Sportsmen (not women) get a 'free ride' in the Caribbean and we seem to lower the bar of social and moral expectations and behaviour.

Is the bar higher for others? If you are not a person of status, you can come under much more scrutiny for your behavior. The bar is low for everyone by the way.

Have you read the book? What is socially or morally wrong with its contents?

I do not believe there should be any restrictions regarding its availability. Maybe not in a Christian bookstore, but everywhere else is OK with me. I might buy it.
