I friend of mine told me that even when she was in College in Kingston(She is from Mobay) her mom who is a teacher use to correct her letters to her and send them back.
My question now is what are the chances of that student failing English?
The reason I say this because I think while we need patwa in order to pass English we have to study it and know when to take it serious. Patwa can be used as a learning tool, and part of our civic lesson but it I don't see the importance of it otherwise in the language classroom as nobody is going to test us on Patwa. I use patwa as I don't know how them get Patois
