Excellent Question!

In addition to Barbados and Trinidad, add others like Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Belize, Guyana, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, etc.
The natives of those countries all have their own dialect (dialect is not a monopoly of Jamaicans, a fact apparently not recognized by some on this forum). But guess which is the only Commonwealth Caribbean country that is leaning towards spending scarce resources not in learning another global language (Spanish, for example), but in studying/learning in a formal classroom setting the dialect that has already been mastered on the blocks and in the homes!
The people of Guyana have their distinct dialect, yet Guyanese students were able to improve their performance in English this year when compared with previous years! And going back in time: My parents had no problem doing well in English during their years in school, and others of their generation seemingly had no major problem.
There’s much more I have to say, but you know what, let me end here.
