  • By the way, I pay to get on my way fast

I travel to Ja very frequently. Almost twice a month the JCF shakes me down for money. Even when I am not speeding they do it. They do it in different ways. Some ask straight up. Some say they are thirsty and want to know if we can help a hard working public servant get through a day in the hot sun. Some say if you drop it we will pick it up. Some want the $$, as allegedly provided with the documents, so they can inspect the documents and tell you everything is in order so you can go on your merry way and have a good day. And even if you are not getting a ticket, you just want to pay and get it over with because you have business to conduct and you need to get on your way. Some start writing and then when you offer they ask you what took you so long. Some ask if you are trying to bribe them and when I say yes, they laff and say thanks. When I say no, they ask what is my problem. It is extremely prevalent. It is the rare cop who does not do this.

Stings do happen and I wondered if the cop maybe thought Bicknell was one of those foreign cops trying a sting. But when I think of who Bicknell is, how frequent he goes to East Kingston, his football involvement, etc., I just know that that cop knew who he was and Bicknell probably walked into a trap....maybe or maybe innocently, as a guy who is as well to do as Exile is, just had some errant $$$ in between the documents in the glove box from when he got the vehicle examined (if his runner didnt do it) or from the last time he almost had to pay off a cop (LOL). As to Vaz, I still think the story dont walk straight. I also think this thing has become very political.

Anyone in disagreement with anything here, join Mosiah in the sea or Exile in the curry.

Do you think the DPP was also acting in a political manner?

You need fi come down my way or even to here. Many of my friends and relatives have doubted these stories until they travel with me. One day we were driving and joking about this stuff and suddenly, out of no where, they came. It was a good laff when we hit the circle by agualta vale and headed for the junction.

Clearly, you are doing something to make them believe they can shake you down. Twice a month!?! I can't tell last they have tried to get anything from me. Maybe is because I usually wear my Titus face when they stop me. And maybe you need to wear less bling!

They have tried this one with me in the past - they pull you over and ask you to support their Sports Day or dance or whatever. Of course, you are so happy that they have overlooked the expired disk on the car, or never asked you for the insurance papers that you don't have, that you buy 5 tickets from them, knowing fully well you are not going to return to Llandilo next weekend to attend anything!

I agree with you Bricky. I say the same thing. If your papers are in order, why do you need to pay a bribe?. I think Westman is a part of the problem. Just one man's opinion.

Look, it is not unususl for police officers to solicit funds to support their many good causes. It happens all over the USA, and perhaps all over the civilized world. Yes I did say civilized. Each year the police benevolent societies, or patrolmen's associations ask for funds, and in turn their members are given a certain number of cards or stickers to give to friends, family, and donors. When stopped, if one is in possession of one such card, or sticker on the windshield the officer is usually entitled to give the holder a pass for minor infractions. I see nothing wrong with that, and maybe the police union should consider that. At the end of the year, the funds are used to support police dances, sports clubs, etc.
