Vaz accused of offering gifts to cop

Parliamentarian Daryl Vaz allegedly made a promise of metal bars to the police sergeant who moved to slap bribery charges on businessman Bruce Bicknell. The Gleaner understands that Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn claims he was at the Police Transport and Repair Division, where he is stationed, on April 12, three days after he accosted Bicknell along the Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway, when he received a call that a visitor was at the front of the premises to see him.
He said a white SUV was parked outside with Vaz seated inside. Vaz allegedly invited the policeman into the vehicle and he complied.
During the ensuing conversation between the two men, Vaz reportedly said Bicknell was not well; would not be able to manage prison and his US visa was likely to be cancelled.
It is understood that when the policeman rejected the arguments being advanced by Vaz to get him to relent, the politician allegedly claimed that he had received the blessing of Police Commissioner Owen Ellington to speak with him.
A text message containing at least one expletive was reportedly shown to the sergeant.
As the exchange continued, Vaz reportedly promised the policeman that he would be rewarded and would receive metal bars.
The Gleaner understands that the policeman said fear gripped him, as Bicknell's alleged strong influence was being demonstrated in an unyielding manner.
The apprehensive policeman reportedly told Vaz that he needed some time to think about everything, after which the politician made his exit.
Vaz is said to have again contacted the policeman after a meeting with Senior Superintendent of Police James Forbes, thanking him and insisting that he has something for him.

So you take one word(even though it maybe true) to confirm your suspicions, even though it can't be proven?

The businessman will walk because he said the the money was previously stored with the documents and the police said that they saw him insert the money in the documents after the traffic stop and they never said that her verbally offered the money. What the Sgt should have done is handed the money back to the businessman then wait for the businessman to offer it to him,

what does it matter what the commish is. Everybody is something as long as they keep their noses clean. Tankweld man dem or pnp so this is not so much a political thing but an issue of entitlement. you have two minds here. If you believe in the broken window theory.. as I do you treat this seriously or you say they are bigger fish to fry and move on.
