    Fish and Jamaica rots from the Bigga Heads..

    Politicians and Big Business people traditionally operate above the law and practice corruption as a matter of routine... this attitude is a huge development problem... Why??

    The common folk...see that this corrupt Politics/Business cabal operates with impunity in breaking laws... and thinks....why should I obey any law when the big man doesn't??

    The result is chaos & disorder...created from the top... In fact that Politics/Business cabal is the architect of Jamaica's violence and poverty

    What is really interesting is many who claim to be for law and order...the rare occasions when their favorite politician or businessperson is caught and charged with a crime or other misconduct...suddenly find all manner of excuses, justifications and whitewashing devices to protect them from harm.

    So they are only interested in justice when it doesn't disturb their political or personal interests... that attitude enables disorder if it prevails


    Hopeful & Refreshing developments re Accountability:

    1. Bruised Gelding forced to apologize, bawl and do the right thing re Dudus

    2. Bruised Gelding beiing forced to demit office due to public disdain for his folly

    3. The instant case of Vaz/Bicknell/Forbes?? Only time will tell what transpires... but the fact of the charges against them is an important signal for order...

        Do you realise that you could well be talking America as well, based on your argument?
        No...politicians and wealthy businesspeople are routinely put in gaol in that country

        It's one of its more charming aspects

                i would think that for the casual observer if this was the case there would have been apathy where golding and to a lesser extent holness' tenure was concerned but there was a groundswell to get them out and then ebverything went quiet ...... why is that?

                  I agree with most of what you say except it appears to me that prosecutions are targeted and very selective

                    Where is the outcry when opposition leader can say she will negociate IMF deal/JDIP/JPS in two weeks. Not one of the great analyst came forward and ask her to clarify or say this is impossible.

                    Where is the accountability when the Minister of Finance can borrow two loans from NCB and BNS and can't disclose the terms to the public, including interest rate?

                    Where is the accountability when the opposition can go to parliament and ask for a list of advisors and all on government payroll and who are assigned government car and in one month it is not forthcoming?

                    Where was the outcry when Colin Campbell ran on the PNP ticket???

                    Just mention Seaga/Golding/Vaz/Shaw and outcry start instantly. Is that accountability for all???

                    Show me these outcry and I will agree with you.

                        Are we just pick and choosing??? How can you know what is corruption if it been kept out of the public domain?

                        I can remember even how this board was lit up about economics and finance, and holding government accountable.

                          We are talking about accountability for corruption and criminality.... not run of the mill silly politics like you described. When the PNP displays criminal behaviour or malfeasance ...then they should be prosecuted accordingly

                              Again...when you can point to criminal behavior by the "other side" then you may have a point....what you referenced are partisan political issues which the JLP tribe is exercised about to score points... the public is not concerned as those issues are correctly seen as mere politricks

                              It's too bad senior JLP operatives including the former PM have recently been embroiled in either criminality or malfeasance..and have paid the price

                              Hush and be patient.... the "other side's" 15 minutes of infamy will undoubtedly come
