Spanish Town and Charlemont train serivce to be terminated
Effective August 21, The Passenger Train Service, between Spanish Town and Charlemont via Linstead will be terminated. The Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing made the announcement via a release on Monday.
The service was introduced last year to facilitate commuters during the closure of the Bog Walk Gorge and to minimize disruption of the pipe-laying work by the National Water Commission (NWC).
With the completion of work and re-opening of the Gorge this operation has proven to be uneconomical, and as such, a decision was made to terminate the service.
The Jamaica Railway Corporation wants to thank commuters for their understanding and support and apologize for any inconvenience this termination may cause.
