Jamaica looks for US support in securing new IMF deal
Jamaica is looking to the United States to use its political influence to help it secure a new deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Last week the United States said it was prepared to offer Jamaica technical assistance to address the issues preventing the country from inking a new deal with the IMF.
But Finance Minister D. Peter Phillips says Jamaica is mainly hoping that political support from the United States will help to encourage the IMF to move swiftly in approving a new programme
Dr Phillips has repeatedly stated that Jamaica should have a new deal by year end.
