Naomi Campbell defied advice to wear sensible shoes when she began five days of mopping floorswith New York City'sSanitation Department.
Her stint as a char lady is part of her sentence for bashing her maid on the head with a mobile phone.
The supermodel tottered in for her community service work wearing stiletto ankle boots.
She did, however, take along a pair of tough-looking flat, clumpy boots, that were slung over her shoulder.
The 36-year-old, born in Streatham, south London,looked every inch the catwalk star in brown trousers, an elegant short black coat belted at the waist, a jaunty baker-boy cap and her trademark dark glasses.
She chatted to a police official as he escorted her along the 150m driveway from the road into the huge building on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
Campbell is being allowed to do her cleaning duties behind closed doors to avoid the media scrum which surrounded Boy George when he swept the city's streets last summer.
