Information reaching us , is the USA , has expressed its disappointment with the PSM administration approach to the lotto scam, by virtue of the fact, that the the government has failed to go after the “BIG FISH” in its ongoing clamp down on the lotto scam. Much like how the USA has gone after Dudus in the drug and gun trade, the USA has now stepped up his insistence that the major players, as they (USA) have them to be, must be apprehended.
The arrest of the Deputy Major and the Councillor, is a result of strong arm tactics, that is now being used by the USA to get the government to act against the really big players involved in this scheme. We are told that there are more politicians involved, not directly but indirectly and the USA wants these guys also.
The Jamaican police however appears not to have enough evidence , which it can use to take these guys into custody and so will require additional help from the USA in ”following the money”, which would hopefully lead back to these guys. ( Ever heard about FACTA)
We also are being told, that while a new IMF deal should have nothing to with the lotto scam, the link between corrupt politicians being involved in the lotto scam and the perception the we are not doing enough, is causing some stumbling block in the negotiations.
The Minister of National Security had no choice but to act in not only ensuring that some of the genetically linked persons connected to the PNP were arrested, he will have to ensure that some of the other names, which the police have been given, are arrested in due course.
So while the IMF deal appears to be held back by pension reforms, CAP sale etc, the issue of how the PNP government deals with its corrupt politicians and connected party members out in the West, must also be addressed in the coming months.
So while we gasp at the arrest of the deputy Major and Councillor, those in the know, would have been aware of who the untouchables were and are happy to see at least an attempt to net some of the real big fish.
Expect more arrest to come as the really big fish are not only out in the west, but are instead in the capital city of Kingston to give cover to their operations, having come under heat in Montego Bay.
