New Jamaican high commissioner to London, Aloun Assamba, has hit back at critics of the outfit she wore to meet The Queen as she completed activities in confirming her post.
After viewing Assamba's outfit on The Gleaner's website Wednesday, several persons commented on Assamba's style.
"Aloun... you need a stylist," said one commenter.
Another said: "The Queen looks regal as usual. Ambassador Assamba should not have worn her gloves since The Queen was not wearing one. Anyway, God bless The Queen! And Ms Assamba too."
Another post stated: "Does she have any handlers over there? She was not properly dressed for the occasion. Anyway, she seems to be enjoying life over there. Go girl!! Take it while you can."
Yesterday Assamba took to her Facebook page to hit back at some of the snarky comments on the Internet.
"Yesterday was a good day for me... Many people have made many comments about the hat and gloves. That was the instructions re dress which came from the (Buckingham) Palace. The hat and gloves came with me from Jamaica as did the dress and shoes!! It is amazing what people choose to comment about, eh? Her Majesty was very cordial and my audience lasted well over the ordinary time usually allotted to this kind of thing," Assamba said.
"We were surprised at how soon the date was set, given her schedule. We had thought it would not have been until September, after all the excitement here."
Assamba's post got more than 400 likes, and up to press time more than 190 comments.
