The special tax on telephone calls made in Jamaica on both landline and mobile networks are now in effect.
The tax took effect yesterday.
The new tax rates will see 5 cents being charged per minute for all calls between local landline numbers.
Forty cents per minute will be applied for all other calls.
The new tax rates announced in May were initially scheduled to take effect on June 1.
But the implementation was delayed until July 15.
Meanwhile, the $5-per-minute mobile termination rate set by the Office of Utilities Regulation also took effect yesterday.
That rate applies to the telephone companies terminating calls on each other’s network.
