  • So the Healthcare battle is about to take

another turn. Heard Paul Ryan on This Week saying there will be a vote in the House to repeal Obamacare. The host pointed out some popular points in the bill and the Congressman insisted that they will be repealing the ENTIRE bill.

I guess dem naah give up on this one.

Election theatrics. The House can vote to repeal it but it will stop there. They are firing up the base, thats all.

That said, Obamacare continues to be very unpopular. It has not worked out well for Obama at all. So much energy and political capital spent and not much to show for it.

It probably will not survive in its current state. Way too complicated. Even the people who support it do not understand it.

Opponents need 2/3 of the votes in the house & senate to repeal the healthcare act. Not a chance at this time and if Romney wins & the GOP takes the senate after Nov, its gone!

I'm aware of what is required, just the fact that they insist on finding another route to killing the policy.

... but what aspect of it is unpopular? Every discussion I've heard people benefit from the policy. I saw a piece on Word news where a child about 6 or 7 years old with a heart condition. Listening to the mother, this policy has lifted a financial burden off their shoulders.

If you can point out the part that is unpopular ... then.

It has some good provisions, banning insurance companies from dumping people on pre-existing conditions, youths on insurance until 26. Detractors do not like the individual mandate that people must have insurance or suffer a tax penalty. The opinion polls vary widely on the healthcare act though...

The bill in its totality is unpopular and has always been since it was passed.

Why is it unpopular? Well I do not think even Obama and his team has figured that out yet. I think they still believe that eventually it will find favor but they thought it would have happened already.

At least some of it is the messaging. The Republicans have been very successful at making the point that Medicare/Medicaid is already bankrupting the Federal govt and this will only make it happen faster. It also supports the line that Obama is a big-government socialist.

I believe that if it was easy to understand and affected more people directly, it would be more popullar. But it doesn't and most people do not use much information to form thier opinion.

It will be interesting to see how the polls move in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling. If it starts to go Obamas way the Republicans will likely drop the issue and go back to the economy.

There were 3 polls in battleground states Ohio, Penn ... can't recall the 3rd and Obama has a lead of up to 9 points in one. Was it done before or after the ruling, I didn't get that part but it would be good to know.

The JLP should take this opportunity to repudiate its Republican links....full time now

That way Lorna and others won't say that the Congressional Black Caucus, Hilary Clinton and Democrats generally are conspiring against the JLP

Yes that will be imporant for his re-election prospects. I do not think that anybody expected the law to be unpopular on a national level though.

Fortunately for Obama , RomneyCare was the template for Obamacare no matter how he tries to run from it. He sounds really silly opposing it on the basis that his was a state program and Obamas is a federal program but I guess thats the best he can come up with.

It is unpopular because of GOP gimmickry more than anything else
