Residents of Fairfield Road in St. Catherine have begun a flight from that community following a series of gun attacks that have left at least two residents dead in the past week.
On Wednesday, 52 year-old labourer, Audrey Pinnock, was killed by gunmen who invaded her home about 9:30 in the evening. She was the sister-in-law of Damion McCurdy, who was also shot fatally by gunmen in the community two days earlier.
Residents told The Gleaner/ Power 106 News that the gunmen have threatened to kill others, including children, on their return to the community. The threats have resulted in an exodus of people from the area.
It is still not clear what spurred the recent killings, but the St. Catherine police have responded by increasing their patrol of the community. The St. Catherine Major Investigation Task Force has commenced an investigation into the killings.
