Karl Thomas to serve Jamaican athletes at London Olympics
As the country counts down to the highly-anticipated Summer Olympics in London, England, word has come that acclaimed chef, Karl Thomas, will serve Jamaica’s delegation of athletes and support team at the training camp in Birmingham, London.
Mr. Thomas, who is Chef Technologist at the University of Technology's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, was selected by Grace Foods, which is responsible for providing meals for the Jamaican delegation.
Mr. Thomas, who will take on the role of lead Chef, is a graduate of the Runaway Bay HEART Hotel and Training Institute.
He is a Certified Executive Chef who has completed three levels of certification through the Culinary Institute of America, as well as a Certified Chef de Cuisine and a Certified Executive Chef.
Commenting on his selection by the Grace Kennedy team, Mr. Thomas says it feels good to know that his dedication to planning and execution is appreciated, and that he will be able to serve his country in this way.
Chef Thomas notes that for the past several weeks, he has been making preparations for menus to serve the dietary needs of the athletes and delegation numbering approximately 75 persons.
