Want us to talk about music that made some of us run out of our homes as soon as the sound system started? Make sure that you listen to this YouTube number with heavy speakers, or even better, with high quality stereo headphones.
What I’m posting is the late Delroy Wilson’s version of the classic love song, “She Wears My Ring.” I might add here that it was powerful, original sounds like this emanating from Jamaica in the 1970s and early 1980s that contributed to reggae music being the worldwide success it was back in the day. (Now you may understand my depression over the state of Jamaica’s rap and hip hop-influenced music today.)
Old-school reggae? A classic genre, and Wilson’s version here bears this out! Great work by this often overlooked vocalist together with superb engineering and solid backing by the studio band.
Much respect to Wilson and his producer for this one!
