But do you think that Bob Marley would have made it anywhere as big as he did if it was not for the deliberate effort by producer Chris Blackwell to give his music a more “international” flavor, thereby making it more “palatable” to the European market?

You could have asked me instead of spending all that time on research! For example, I have had the pleasure of speaking to Wayne Perkins, the brilliant studio lead guitarist whose solo was overdubbed on tracks like “Concrete Jungle.”

I wouldn't use the word "palatable" but yes Blackwell was instrumental in causing the penetration of Bob's mmusic in the Euro and american market.
