bias intimidation, which means he faces certain jail time – between five and 10 years.

I must say this is a verdict I disagree with. Was he stupid to do it .... yes ... but I think the fact is a foreigner .... What about the text that was sent to the 'victim' before anyone knew he was going to jump off the GWB?

I think the youth was stupid to do it, but I certainly can't portray this as a hate crime!

He was stupid to reject the no prison time plea deal. His best hope now is a government to government diplomatic deal.

Didn't know he represented the Indian govt for a diplomatic deal. He may get 5 years in prison & deportation later.

            Sad situation all around!

IMO Clementi committed suicide because he felt it embarrassing for his parents to find out about his sexuality!

The Indian goverment can discretely ask for a pardon or an immediate deportation.

i too think the verdict was unfair... basically, he is found guilty becase he should have known that the 'victim' would have felt intimidated because of his sexual orientation...

so the guy kill himself, and he should have know the would kill himself because of his sexual orientation...

how was he to know that the guy would kill himself... i see an appeal... charge him for invasion of privacy, but hate crime, i dont see it...
