Absolutely. There is so much hatred for Obama among a significant percentage of the electorate that he will have no choice but to to fight all the way to secure his re-election.
I am sure they are ready to roll though.

prudence will conquer ignorance... i am confident of an Obama landslide victory... i've been saying it all along... america has learnt its lesson after electing george bush for a second term...
i'll make one other prediction: 2016 the democrats will again... i'll give reasons another time...
'to get what we've never had, we MUST do what we've never done'
The long-term demographic trends do favor the Democrats but political parties tend to regroup and reset when they realise they are becoming irrelevant.
The PNP is as good an example of this as any. It was clear by the mid-80s that socialism was not going to be acceptable as an ideology anymore so Manley threw away the Kariba suit, embraced a jacket and tie, and the rest is history.

I think if Mitt loses, the GOP will think he was not conservative enough.
They will stupidly elect an extreme conservative candidate 2016. He too will lose since the country prefers a moderate government in light of a changing world.
You see, the GOP still think it still exists in the 1800's...and the constitution is not a living document.
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough
Sometimes it depends on who the candidate is and what the critical issues of the day are though.
Ronald Reagan was considered too extreme to win by many in 1980, certainly with regards to foreign policy. But the Iran hostage issue came up and sentiment shifted to the right.
