It seems some fans just won't get the point - don't fight someone for doing his job.

Selecting duo Razz and Biggy were assaulted by fans of Vybz Kartel who accused them of playing 'too many' of Mavado's songs.

The selctors were attacked at a party held at Prendy's on the Beach on Sunday night.

Artistes Mavado and Kartel have been involved in a lyrical fued for the past few months.

    Gunshot a go buss

An eyewitness present at the venue told The STAR that three men approached Biggy and threw water on him then roughly pushed him and issued threats. The men apparently told him "Addi a di daddy and yuh cyan deh play so much Mavado" and that because of his (Biggy's) actions, "gunshot a go buss".

When contacted Biggy, whose correct name is Richard McGrath, confirmed the incident. He says this is evidence of the downward spiral of dancehall music.

"Basically artistes have control over the fans and they are taking things too far. We are selectors, we play for fans, so an artiste can't tell us what to play ... Now look at what is happening, where people send threats because of what I play. It's like the artistes take selectors for puppets," Biggy said.

    Kartel disappointed

When contacted dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel said he was disappointed in the actions of the fans. "There will be no tolerance for overzealous fans who physically harm any artiste or selector or rival fan to prove loyalty to their respective artiste, etc.," he said.

"Kartel and Mavado have no rivalry beyond the

Check out the date of posting of the original newspaper report on this mesage board (February 27, 2007). That is almost three years ago!!

Now, as the popular saying goes, “The more things change, the more they....” (Feel free to complete the sentence.)

          Good rehash, Historian!

And to think this was long before the Gully-Gaza crap. We would probably be mourning the DJs' death.
