Government Senator Grace Imani Duncan-Pryce has served notice by way of the Senate that she wants the current system under which drivers licences are issued to be re-examined.
Speaking this morning, she noted the existing indiscipline on the nation's roads, illiteracy levels of many holding driver's licences, and lack of knowledge of the road Code by many drivers.
She also said some drivers were navigating vehicles with higher ratings than their licences allow.
She says given these factors it is imperative that a re-examination of the licensing system be done.
The Senator will be debating the matter at the next sitting of the Senate.
