20 % Drop in fuel sales
Local gasoline retailers are reporting a more than 20 percent drop in sales over the past twelve months as consumers struggle to keep up with the rising cost of petroleum products.
The Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association, JGRA, says it's worried that the weekly increases in fuel prices will lead to a further drop in business for its members.
Over the past eight weeks, petrol prices have jumped in response to tensions in the Middle East over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
