As I write, the group seeking to recall Republican scumbag Governor Scott Walker are delivering petitions to the state elections office in Madison which will force him to stand in a recall election which could force him out of office in a few months.
A raucous, but peaceful, crowd of about 3,000 people are in front of the elections office, called the Government Accountability Board. Volunteers wearing neon vests are holding the crowd back, and as people are taking boxes of paper off the truck, one by one, to loud cheers and applause.
The group organizing the petition drive says they have more than 1 million signatures, including mine, almost double the 540,000 required to force the election. When the petition drive was announced, a goal of 720,000 was set. Walker recieved 1.12 million votes (52.4 percent) when he was elected governor in 2010.
Recall petitions were also filed against Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and four Republican state senators. Republicans hold a 17-16 majority in the state Senate.
