Fitz Albert Christie, the Jamaica Labour Party Councillor for the Ulster Spring division in Trelawny, has died.
Christie, who lived in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, was at home about 1.30 last night, when he complained that he was not able to breathe properly.
He was taken to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital where he died on arrival.
Christie, who was in his late 60’s had been a Councillor in the Trelawny Parish council since 2003 when he first won the division for the JLP.
He retained the division in 2007 and continued as an active political representative.
Christie attended the last council meeting on Thursday, January 11, where he took part in a discussion about the water crisis facing the people in his division, calling for the National Water Commission to do something about the problem.
An autopsy is expected to be performed soon to determine the cause of death.
However, the police do not suspect foul play.
