The fallout from the JLP's loss in the recently held General Election has deepened.
RJR News has received word that Delano Seiveright, President of the JLP affiliate Generation 2000 or G2K is to step down from that post. Mr. Seiveright had already served notice that he would step aside in either late February or early March.
The usually vocal Mr. Seiveright, has been blamed for waging a negative media campaign against then PNP leader Portia Simpson-Miller in the run up to the December 29 polls.
According to JLP insiders, Mr. Seiveright, who was elected for a third consecutive term last November, revealed that this is his last term in the post, and that the moves paves the way for the leadership transition.
Several meetings have reportedly been held with G2K officials regarding the transition plan.
A JLP source who requested anonymity says Mr. Seiveright had expressed surprise about the blame for the campaign, as he had no final decision making on what should be aired.
The source added that on several occasions, Mr. Seiveright expressed serious concerns about what was the "imbalanced ad campaign."
Mr. Seiveright declined to comment when RJR News contacted him.

In a major blunder Friday night Councillor John Myers of the Lawrence Tavern Division introduced Delano Seiveright, the president of Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional arm of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) as Delano Franklyn.
Frankyn is a former state minister in the People's National Party and is a current campaign spokesman for the party.
Myers was chairing a JLP mass meeting in Naggo Head, St Catherine until regular chairman Desmond McKenzie took over, when he made the error.
The mistake was not immediately detected by the crowd, but Seiveright caught it.
The G2K president did not speak after the introduction.
The Naggo Head meeting was being held as part of the final lap of a three-day islandwide JLP tour which began on Wednesday in Kingston.
