A police constable is now in custody after he shot and killed a fellow cop at a dance at D'Aguilar Road in Kingston early yesterday morning.
The dead cop has been identified as Detective Constable Shaun Howe, who is assigned to the May Pen Criminal Investigation Branch in Clarendon.
Police report that the two were at the dance when guns were brought into play and Howe was killed. Initial reports suggest that the cops did not know both were members of the constabulary.
The accused cop is now in custody and is expected to be questioned on Wednesday.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the incident.
The commission says its investigations has so far revealed that Detective Constable Howe was fatally shot by his colleague while urinating in an open lot near the location of the dance.
