OCG wants Danville Walker criminally charged

Danville Walker, former Commissioner of Customs.

The Office of the Contractor General (OCG) has referred Danville Walker, the former head of Jamaica Customs Department, for criminal prosecution for obstructing its efforts to investigate breaches of a cabinet directive on scrap metal exports.
The OCG says it has so far met with stiff resistance from Mr. Walker in complying with a request for information to assist in the investigation.
It says other senior officials including Dr Christopher Tufton, the Minister of Commerce, have already complied with his office.
Mr. Walker was cited in a letter through his lawyers as saying that he will only comply if it is convenient.

Well Boss given our history where political connections and corruption are bedfellows(lol) costing the economy 50 % of GDP ,where the DPP had 40 cases on her desk from the OCG ,this would be 41 ,where the penalty if it went to court might be 4 loafs of bread, where the media/society is unaware or pays little attention to the incompetence of the DPP.

Its best we leave it alone,we are on the road to first world with a JEEP where we can drink latte!

But we were told that Danville was above the foolishness and was a proven winner, why would he not corporate with the OCG even after the Minister did what he had to do?

I wonder of the JLP people of central Manchester, Eastern Hanover, central Westmoreland and Eastern St Andrew will have representation if their candidates lose.

same thing for the PNP Central St James, and North Trelawny

Is Danville still running for office? In most decent societies he would have "suspended" his campaign. But not Jamaica! He may even go on to win the seat and sit in Parliament, making laws for all of us that we do not dare break!

The DPP will probably take 2 years to get to his file, another 2 to review it, and then determine there is no reason to charge him.

By that time, Scrappy would have sat in parliament making laws for us with penalties a little bigger than 4 loaves of bread.

So di JFJ cant advocate for a better system of transparency , anti corruption , legal governance, etc dem can tie it in to some human rights issue like police brutality....serious corruption leads to police brutality where vital resources are drained in terms of man power ,equipment and bribes which directly or indirectly lead to the brutality , economic, mental, social and physical of Jamaican citizenry!
