G2K says the Opposition PNP has borrowed many JLP Policies for its Manifesto

The young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Generation 2000 (G2K), in press release obtained by OG.NR says "the Peoples National Party (PNP) Manifesto is almost an endorsement of the policies and programs of the four year old JLP administration."
G2K added that "the majority of the PNP manifesto on the economy speaks to continuity of the government's initiatives which is amazing as the PNP recently blasted new Prime Minister Andrew Holness when he spoke of continuity."

Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) this evening said that the Peoples National Party (PNP) Manifesto is almost an endorsement of the policies and programs of the four year old JLP administration. G2K noted that much of what the PNP has put forward are already being effectively and speedily dealt with by the JLP government.

G2K noted that the majority of the PNP manifesto on the economy speaks to continuity of the government's initiatives which is amazing as the PNP recently blasted new Prime Minister Andrew Holness when he spoke of continuity.

Further yet, G2K said in the areas of Tax reform, Pension reform, divestment of loss making state entities, the mobilisation of investments, Energy, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and so on the JLP is already far advanced in these efforts and has in many respects despite the awful global economic conditions performed very well.

G2K also stated that the much touted PNP flagship job creation program JEEP amounted to only four paragraphs out of a 63 page Manifesto and was woefully short of any details in relation what the programme would cost or how many jobs it is expected to generate. It only goes to reinforce the now widely held view that JEEP is either a pie in the sky program or yet another irresponsible PNP led crash work initiative.

Further, G2K stated that it is deeply concerned that the proposed funding for JEEP would be acquired from the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP), which would require the renegotiation of a contractual arrangement with the EXIM Bank of China and from the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) which appears akin to the past administration’s frequent raids on the funds of the National Housing Trust.

G2K called on all Jamaicans to reject PNP rhetoric and seek to ensure that the Andrew Holness led JLP continues to walk the walk as it has effectively done since coming into office. G2K said Jamaicans are best served by a Holness led JLP that has committed itself to the continued pursuit of better politics and better policies that would make better people.
