  • Prime Time murder?

The Opposition People’s National Party says Prime Minister Andrew Holnessshould provide images captured by the US surveillance aircraft in Tivoli Gardens last year to Public Defender Earl Witter, to assist him in his investigation into the incursion.

Witter has been conducting an investigation into the killing of 73 people during the May 2010 event to serve a warrant on convicted drug lord Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.

Opposition spokesman on national security Peter Bunting said Holness should ask the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to submit the images to Witter.

At an emergency press conference yesterday, Holness confirmed that a United States Government assisted the JDF by providing an airplane to capture images over Tivoli Gardens in May 2010.

However, the prime minister has insisted that the US was not involved in the military operations on the ground.

Yesterday’s admission came after two government ministers had denied that the US provided any assistance.
The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.
