A teacher, who reportedly had sex with a 13-year-old female student on four occasions, was today granted bail in the sum of $500,000.
The teacher appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.
In court today, defence attorney, Peter Champanie said there were inconsistencies in the Crown's case.
After consulting the Clerk of Courts, Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green granted bail to the 24-year-old accused.
The accused is to report to the Portmore police every day, surrender travel documents and must be at home between the hours of 9 o’clock at nights and 5 o’clock in the mornings.
It is alleged that on May 11, this year, the accused lured the complainant to his house in Portmore where he had sex with her.
He is also accused of having sex with the child on three other occasions in the teacher’s lunch room on the school's compound.
The child reported the matter to her mother and the accused was arrested at school on November 28, he was subsequently charged with carnal abuse.
He is to reappear May 3, next year for a Preliminary Inquiry.
