    Hylton stands firm

    Leaon Nash, Gleaner Writer

Opposition spokesman on Industry, Investment and Commerce Anthony Hylton is insisting that the information he provided a few days ago regarding a link between a recent drug bust and the scrap metal trade is credible.

His insistence follows criticism from the government and Generation 2000, that the claim was part of a plot by the People’s National Party (PNP), to discredit the government and that it was made without any evidence.

At a recent press conference, Hylton suggested there was a link between the scrap metal trade and the seizure of two tons of marijuana in a container of iron oxide shipped from Jamaica about mid-October.

He said the shipment of the drugs coincided with the period during which the Customs Department allowed the export of 97 containers of scrap metal, contrary to a ban announced by industry Minister Christopher Tufton.

In an interview with the Gleaner/Power 106 news centre last evening, Hylton said he has so far been contacted by local and foreign investigators about the matter.

He said he will be turning over the evidence he has to them within two days.

In the meantime when contacted, Head of the Organised Crime Investigation Division, Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey, said he is not aware of any investigation being undertaken by the police into the matter.

The Truth? Mi nuh understand how Mosiah, Sickko and the Truth Crusaders a tip toe round dis one.

Emily Crooks of NNN went into details with this. She spoke a PR rep for the customs in Miami who said yes, drugs was found in the container and the container was LOADED in Jamaica.

Speaking with the bredda name Hylton that run the ports there was a dispute about the word loaded. According to him, loaded means the container was placed on the ship in Jamaica, but the container was coming from Australia and held over in Jamaica which is used as a hub.

Crooks went to the port yesterday and found the following
        1. Records showed the container left Aus. on one ship and offloaded in Jamaica.
        2. Container left Aus with a seal with serial # X and was loaded onto the ship to leave Jamaica with same seal.
        3. The container was not packed in Jamaica, therefore the PMP bredda was off the mark trying to tie the drugs to the scrap metal trade.
        4. Ship left Jamaica and made 4 stops, including as far north as NY before docking in Miami.
The conclusion is Anthony Hylton was WRONG but he achieved his objective .... as you can't unring a bell.

Still a wait fi hear from the Truth Crusaders pon dis one.

Santioned where? Was he santioned when a few weeks back he claimed companies were getting pink slips from FDA reps? The reality no such actions were taking place, the reps were visiting companies to help them get ready for when the actual tests would begin. '

Because of his mendacity, the FDA agents stopped and headed back home. As mi say, yuh cyaan unring a bell ... a since week mi see comreds pon FB a talk bout companies getting pink slips from the FDA.

Lazie this must be an act , you cannot be that simple.

The US customs agent said the weed was an easy find; IT WAS RIGHT THERE WHEN THE CONTAINER WAS OPENED.

Are you saying that Australian drug dealers put weed in a container that was heading for Ja, with the hopes of it reaching the US? The agents said it was right there, whoever loaded the scrap metal was blind and without a sense of smell?

At times you need to put away the tribal thing boss. This is why Ja cannot go forward. To much support for lawlessness.
