An 80-year-old man has been accused of hitting a woman with a bag of raw meat, causing her death.
Dead is 50-year-old Veronica Jackson of Harbour Head Road in Port Morant, St Thomas.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the woman died on Thursday after she was hit in the face with the bag of meat. She is said to have fallen into a coma for more than a week after the incident.
It is understood that the accused, Perseco Fitz-Daniel, was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm after the incident. He is booked to appear in court next Friday.
It is possible now that following the death of the woman on Thursday that the accused could now be slapped with a charge of murder.
Reports are that last week, the woman and the accused were having a playful conversation when the tragedy eventually unfolded.
