  • JLP supporters want Camille Buchanan removed as their candid

A week after the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) presented its slate of candidates for the General Election, at least one of the persons selected is facing opposition from a group of constituents.

Several JLP supporters turned up at the party's Belmont Road headquarters Monday night [November 21] to protest against the selection of Camille Buchanan as the representative for East Central St. Catherine.

Miss Buchanan will do battle with the PNP's Arnaldo Brown for the seat.

But the protestors demanded that another candidate be chosen, who they say will stand a better chance at the polls than Miss Buchanan.

"There's no way she can win and we can’t afford for the party go down because of one person. We need a proper representative," said one protestor.

They added that efforts to speak with JLP officials regarding their concern have been unsuccessful, so they decided to protest.

She is the councillor for the Gregory Park Division even while she held some executive post at Caymanas Park.

She was one of the three candidates along with danville and the NSWMA lady who were asked to step down from their government jobs if they were going to contest the general elections...
