Party followers 'empty' store

Four bus loads of people dressed in green and believed to be attending the Jamaica Labour Party annual conference yesterday failed to pay for items taken from an Epping convenient store in Drax Hall, St Ann, THE STAR has learnt.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 a.m., after a large group of persons by-passed the gas station's security.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the boisterous group went inside the gas station's minimart and consumed several food and alcoholic items inside the store.
It is reported that the men and women who had arrived in Toyota Coaster buses also left the store with several alcoholic, non-alcoholic and snack items.
Some of the items stolen include several cases of Magnum tonic wine, Heineken and energy drinks.
THE STAR understands that the items stolen have an estimated value of $100,000 and the manager of the minimart will be contacting the relevant political representatives to have the matter addressed.
It is understood that the manager of the gas station will be seeking compensation for the items stolen.
When contacted yesterday, the St Ann's Bay police confirmed the incident and told us that by the time they were called to the scene, the perpetrators had already left.
Investigations are ongoing.
