- A 25 per cent reduction in murder in the first 10 months of this year has helped the police to record an overall 19 per cent lowering of all major crimes.
- In figures released today, the police high command reported that 952 people have been murdered across the island from January 1 to November 13.
- That is 298 fewer than the number of persons murdered for the corresponding period last year.
- Against that background, Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds said the number of cops on the streets will be increased for the Christmas period.
- In the meantime, Assistant Commissioner of police, Ray Palmer, said the police are well prepared to offer adequate security for the upcoming general elections.
