  • The Haitization Of Jamaica

Citing concerns about the mischaracterisation of the FDA inspector's visit, the agency has decided to suspend the assessment having completed only one of four scheduled inspections of Jamaican food processors, the Embassy said.
“The FDA will determine if and when the remaining three companies will be rescheduled for inspection,” it said.
So the inspections which are put in place to help avoid Jamaican products facing the possibility of a US import ban, now have been abandoned because of Termite mischief...idiots...

For those not familiar with this case please explain. Especially how the termites are responsible.

There is a change where companies exporting food to the USA will have to meet certain standards. There were some FDA inspectors in the island to conduct audits of food processing and packaging facilities that export to the U.S.

Hylton put out a press release that companies were given 'pink slips' meaning they could no longer export to the USA. Well after all is said and done, he was wrong and as a result of the political football ... the inspectors back off.

OK. Will the the auditors leaving imply that JA food exports could be banned. IfHylton said this without providing evidence he should be slapped (figuratively) for this.

No ... the serious tests that could lead to companies being banned begin (I think ) January. If if not Jan, I stand corrected. To my understanding this audit was to help the 4 companies, the first company was given pointers as to how to improve.
