Accused sex offender extradited to New York

BUFFALO, USA (AP) — A convicted sex offender is back in New York state after spending nearly two years on the run, most recently in Jamaica.
The US Marshals Service says its Violent Felony Task Force and Jamaican police caught up with Anthony Singh last month and have now brought him back to Buffalo.
Singh pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse in state Supreme Court in June 2009. But sometime before his scheduled September 2009 sentencing he disappeared. He was facing a possible two- to seven-year term.
The Erie County District Attorney's office sought a forfeiture of Singh's $40,000 bail and enlisted the help of the Marshals Service to find him
