Danville Walker upset over defaced billboard
Days after he was introduced to constituents in Central Manchester, Jamaica Labour Party caretaker Danville Walker is crying foul over a defaced billboard.
Speaking with RJR News on Tuesday morning, Mr. Walker described the action as reminiscent of the last general election where according to him it is widely believed that violence and intimidation were used to win the seat.
Mr. Walker urged his opponent the Member of Parliament, the People’s National Party's Peter Bunting to exercise better leadership in order to ensure the election is contested at a higher level.
“I'm surprised that my political opponent who happens to be the General Secretary of the People’s National Party can exercise better leadership that will result in us conducting this contest at a higher level, rather than resorting to the politics of the past,” Mr. Walker said.
Mr. Walker also urged Mr. Bunting to see to the immediate refurbishing of the billboard.
“I expect nothing less from him than the replacement of the billboard and to caution his exuberant supporters that this is not what he stands for. Manchester Central does not need this type of garrison-like behaviour,” Mr. Walker said.
In the meantime, Mr. Bunting is condemning the damage done to the billboard in Mandeville.
Mr. Bunting in a release says while it is not clear who is responsible for the act, he's urging the supporters of both parties to conduct a clean campaign for the upcoming election.
He however did not respond to Mr. Walker's request for the immediate refurbishment of the billboard."Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)

So isn't that a vulgar billboard-type sign? Why it has to be so big? Overcompensation for something? Poor Pneumatron Ltd have to take pit...btw...this party supposed to be supporting businesses....
Maybe there should be limits to the size of political banners, signposts etc. and also location etc.
