A group of citizens, including children’s advocate Betty Ann Blaine, has chained themselves to the median at Half Way Tree Square in St. Andrew.
Mrs. Blaine told RJR News the action is in solidarity with the “Occupy Wall Street” Movement, as well as to bring attention to what the group has labeled the gross inequities and injustices in the Jamaican Society.
“People can’t buy food, can’t send their children to school, no lunch money, no bus fare, can’t pay their light bills and we are saying enough is enough. We are fighting for justice and we are standing in solidarity with the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Movement that has spread all over the world,” she said.
