I tell you how Jamaica can wipe its debt clean

Jamaica's debt is 130% of GDP...that makes it around US$15B. Debt stock has increased >50% since 2007 and is rising with the rescheduled portion under the debt exchange falling due in a few years... (Incidentally when that debt overhang must be met there will be a debate similar to the Alumina Forward Sale Losses, as to the wisdom of the JDX especially if the PNP is in power...you heard it here first)

Unfortunately there is no way ANY arrangement to dispose of the Port of Kingston or a combination of port assets to any foreign interest would even approach that US$15B debt number...it would be a small fraction of it... Plus the PAJ is heavily indebted to the tune of 100s of US$m due to borrowing massive amounts to fund the expansion...so we would either have to eat that debt service or take a haircut on any sale proceeds if the buyer agrees to absorb it.
Right now the PAJ is performing...ie able to service the debt load out of income. If we sell the asset tax dollars may have to support that load.

Our airports are small potatoes.. maybe a couple hundred million US$....plus Sangster, the key air asset, is already privatized.

The Kingston port is a great asset and should be leveraged to the max to create wealth along with any additional logistics enterprises like the Caymanas & Vernamfield plans...the DayWalking Vampiya's lofty vision is sound.
